Hello all,

I just finished reading ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’ by Jenny Han, and I can’t possibly give it enough praise. The number of books I’ve read late into the night due to an inability to put them down is little, and this book is one of the few.

The plot is original, the characters are complex and the writing is truly captivating. It’s hard to become engrossed by books as a writer- I’m constantly predicting possible plot twists, watching the writer’s grammar and considering their word usage- but I felt fully drawn into the life of ‘Lara Jean,’ the main character. Here’s the basic description:

Sixteen-year-old Lara Jean Song keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her. They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her; these are ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved—five in all. When she writes, she pours out her heart and soul and says all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly, Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control.

When I started reading, I thought I had a sense of how the book would go- but I was utterly surprised (joyously, of course). The best part is, I just learned that there are two more books in this series! Let’s just say I’ll be raiding my library tomorrow (as I do so very often).

Anyhow, I strongly recommend this book, which is now also a movie on Netflix (I have yet to watch it!) and I give my praises to the amazing author, Jenny Han.

Happy writing (and reading, of course),
