As the title of this post suggests, I completed the first draft of my YA novel ‘Dear Jackson.’ It’s only novella length right now (I was trying to get the story down quickly so I would have something to work with), but hey, it’s a full storyline. I stayed up much later than I should have last night finishing it, and I think everyone in the neighborhood heard me when I went downstairs and declared that my book was finished.

My Dad: Which book?

I’m going to give myself three weeks before I start editing (which will consist of a lot more writing so I can fill in some spaces) so I have fresh eyes when I look back at it. In the meantime, perhaps I’ll speed write another book?

Hopefully the second draft will go half as quickly as this one did (5 days of writing, to be exact)!
